Theme instalation

Hi. i am using first time prestashop, i want to change my theme, got a theme blackhawk3.1

any body can tell what is procedure,....

if you've got zipped file (of theme) you can use free module to import template named : theme installer, it is available for free here: http://addons.prestashop.com/en/front-office-features-prestashop-modules/1713-template-installer.html

 

install this module in your back office, then import your theme via configuration page of this addon.

doesn't work... I purchased a theme from ThemeMonster.com and got their zip file. The file contains a zipped source file that has to be unzipped first. So I did that. Then I navigated to the Theme Intaller module and located the zip installation file on my desktop. clicked "Next" and bingo!  Error message.

 

Tried it without unzipping the source zip. Still got an error.

 

Then I duplicated the "default" theme folder, renamed it, and manually uploaded the zipped files to the folder, overwriting any duplicate files. I assumed I would then have a second theme in the Theme Module.

 

There was a second theme! But it looked just like the default except that it had the logo from the theme I was trying to import.

 

Bottom line?  I'll never buy a PrestaShop theme as anything but an AddOn. It's incredibly difficult to do an incredibly simple task.

 

Anyone have any ideas?  Thoughts?
