Use of the Trademark symbol and Registered symbol during Import of a CSV file.

I have unsuccessfully been trying to find a way to use TM and R symbols when going through Tools > Import with a CSV file. If I use these symbols in my product description, my text always seems to stop at the TM or R symbol and nothing else shows.

If I manually insert the TM symbol into the product via the Catalog section, the TM works.

Is there a workaround that anyone knows for this please?

It would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried loading your export file in notepad or Open Office and saving it in UTF-8?

Someone else said this worked for most things.

great , it works . You could open it with notepad ,then save as utf-8 . After that , don't open csv file any more. Upload to import. bingo.
