[SOLVED] Help creating product that only selected customers can purchase

Hi everyone, my shop is running well the past couple of weeks since I started and have made a few sales. Thanks to the presta team for making a simple ecommerce solution!

 

So what I'm trying to do. I want to create a product that only selected customers can purchase. I tried setting groups but it didn't work the way I needed it to as it only allows to set a discount on products for customers that belong to that group.

 

The back story:

I'm running a group buy for some auto parts. If you are unfamiliar with a "group buy" it is just bulk buying a certain product usually with a minimum of 10 people committing to the purchase. Once the 10 people is reached, the order is made and the product is shipped out to those people.

 

Currently I have a product page setup that is set to "not available to order" this allows me to update the page and display information on how to join the group buy but prevents anyone from sending money just yet.

 

Once I have 10 names down on the list and I can order from the supplier, I would like to have a product setup that can only be viewed/purchased by those people. To the regular customer they wont see this product at all.

 

Also for the product, since there are color variations and the variations are different prices, I want to have a selectable option for color choice and have that choice change the price depending on color selected. I'm sure this is an easier task and involves the use of the "features" variable.

Have you looked into creating a category that is restricted to a group.  Then you can add the product to this group, and only those users in the group can see the product.
