Hi, our company will start shipping products to other countries, but it seems quite complicated..

Do i first find a carrier, such as FedEx or UPS, and then start working on the settings in shipping, or how do i start?

 

 

I read some of the documentation on shipping but i dont think its very clear..

Hi!

Yes, you first need to get shipping rates from your carriers, then you can set them up in Prestashop.

 

If you use the newest 1.5.5, they have simplyfied the process with a wizard. I just published a video on it! : )

There is still one thing i dont understand though. I see that the zones are set up by continent wich is weird since the price change depending on the country. UPS for example, im sure they dont deliver to south africa for the same price as algeria. How do you manage the countries?

You are free to change zones so that they make more sense to your business model.  If you ship to 300 different countries, then they might all require a different zone, then that is what you have to setup.

 

You should first document for yourself how you intend to ship your products, then setup your store shipping settings to match it.

Ok cool, i dont know where to do that, but i havent yet installed 1.5.5 so maybe it will be more clear how to configure zones when i do !
