benwiggy
I'm trying to add Categories before importing my data. I can create a category fine, but it doesn't show up in the list of categories in the BackOffice. It DOES show up as an option in the Parent Category bit when I create another category. So, it's there, but not appearing in the Back Office main Category list. It doesn't show up in the shop, either. I'm "upgrading" from v.1.3, so am familiar with Prestashop, but don't know what's going on here. I used a "Cleaner" module to delete all the default data that comes with Prestashop. Might that have damaged the db structure? EDIT: OK, now I'm getting all my categories showing up in thr Back Office, but only one of them shows up in the shop. (Yes, all three options are ticked for displaying it to Guest, Visitor, Customer, etc.) If I create sub-categories of the one the shows up, I get a 404 when I try to click on them in the shop. I've tried importing my original CSV file, but it won't let me import the home folder: The ID category cannot be the same as the ID Root category or the ID Home category. Home (ID: null) cannot be saved Even when I don't include the Home folder in the import!! benwiggy
After reinstalling Prestashop from scratch, it seems that even the demo data doesn't show up in the Categories List. What am I doing wrong? Or is this a bug/oversight?
benwiggy
OK: Default installation, demo data. Categories DON'T show in Back Office > Catalogue > Categories. If I add one new category, then I get "Home" and my new one in the list. I can then see the sub-categories under Home. If I delete my category, then Home disappears from the list, and I have no categories at all. Unless someone can enlighten me, this looks like a bug that renders Prestashop useless, as I can't create and edit categories. sibelio_zx
I had the same problem. What you need to do is create your new categories inside the HOME category. If you simply create a category from the root page of Categories, you will create a category alongside HOME category, but it won´t show since by default your site will show the Home category, unless you select a different root category.
