Hi,

i wounder what is the best way (steps if possible) to backup and restore my store 100% without losing anything

1) export preshop database

2) copy all files of your store to your hard disc drive (you can copy it with filezilla, totalcommander etc.)

in this case you will need to:

 

1) import database file to your database server

2) upload all files that you downloaded before

I am trying to use the auto update module, and am afraid that the modification i made to some files and cms pages could be lost, am I right or not?

Except that the saving process isn't as clean as it seems.

 

I saved old database, copied all the files to the disk.

 

Then I tried the way back and result is the shop is all broken. Prestashop is way too sensitive and unstable. When it works just cross your fingers and don't touch it :/

have you changed also several parameters in database? it's necessary when you moving store to localhost

especially ps_shop_url table

No. It was saved shop and that had to be restored on the same server. Everything was the same. But everything went wrong and I found out why : it was smarty cache fault I think. Once I desactivated it, website started to work again.
