Uninstalling and reinstalling Prestashop from scratch

Recommended Posts

How do I go about uninstalling Prestashop from my host and then reinstalling a fresh copy from scratch again? In other words, exactly what directories within that domain's folders do I need to delete so that I can start over afresh? I screwed up something in regards to themes early on, but luckily I had not uploaded any data or images for our products or anything like that, and I have heard that maybe it's easier to simply start over again and get it right. I have been unable to find any info online as to uninstalling Prestashop though, so I just need to know if there are certain file folder directories/subdirectories that need to stay inside my domain's folder or not.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Eric Mantia,

usually your Root PrestaShop file is with publichtml or www.

You can delete that. (Only if you're absolutely sure!)

Then you can go to your hosting cpanel and find phpMyAdmin and Drop (or delete) the database that as the prestashop tables, you probably is named something like PrestaShop or PS something, thats pretty standard.

Now it's totally uninstalled.

You can Download PrestaShop again. Make a new clean database, and Upload the PrestaShop files to your host via FTP like you did before.

The main thing is Dropping the Database and Deleting your Files via FTP.

After that it's a repeat of how you installed it to begin with. :)
