vekia
in my opinion it isn't good for seo, especially when you change the category name in the future. Anyway, if you're still interested in this, you should check this thread: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/204935-override-friendly-urls-without-id-number-for-v15/
soulmann
please explain why it is not good to remove category id's?
vekia
for example: you removed category ID number, and you have category named "fruits" url to category looks like: http://domain.com/fruits/ google indexed this website, and for example this category is in top ten serps (search results)) in google. after some time you decided to change category name to "fresh fruits". After that url to your category looks like: http://domain.com/fresh-fruits/ this website isn't indexed in google! because simple /fuits/ was indexed long time ago. Now when someone will search in google for "fruits" store, and click on your website link to /fruits/ category - it will see 404 error page! when you will have id number in the url, you can change category name as much as you want - customer will always see correct category website even if customer clicks on old link

fishordog
Is there any reason not to remove ID's from url's if my store hasn't been indexed yet?
