janoloco
Hello dear friends. I want to update my prestashop store from 1.4.8.2 to the newest version of the 1.4x series. In your experience... should i do the update to 1.4.9 first ? Is it safe to update directly to 1.4.11? I want to take advantage of the speed and new features of recent versions. Thanks in advance and regards..
benjamin utterback
First, make sure to have a backup of both your mySQL database and your PrestaShop folders and files. After that, set up a duplicate store on a localhost, but its better if you copy the store on a test subdomain. From there you can test the upgrade on your duplicate store before you actually do the live upgrade. You must ask yourself, are you happy with the store you have now? If speed is the issue, upgrading to a newer version might not have the speed differences you are looking for. Speed is usually concerned with the development of your particular website and your server strength. That said, if you test the upgrade and have a backup then there really isn't much you should be worried about. Upgrading to 1.4.11 should be fine but test the upgrades so you know of any errors that might happen beforehand.
