Question about Eolia's newsletter module

Recommended Posts

I'm using the Eolia newsletter module and am doing a test.

Whenever I send a sample to my own email, the system adds my logo as an attachment to the email and then places my logo at the bottom of the newsletter email.

How can I get around that?

I think it has something to do with Preferences > Themes where you can upload your logo. I notice that next to Mail Logo it shows my logo by default.

How can I remove only the Mail Logo so that it doesn't attach it to emails and force it down at the end of the newsletter?

Also, I notice that when I'm testing my newsletter email, after sending a test to my own email address, I'll get a message that reads "Info: You have crashed an existing backup!"

What does that mean and is it anything to be concerned about?

Thanks.

Followup:

OK. Here's something I did to get around the logo being forced into the bottom of the newsletter email.

I created a 1x1 pixel image with a blank background, went into PS admin panel, then Preferences > Themes, and for the Mail Logo used the 1x1 pixel image.

So, my logo is no longer being forced into the bottom of the newsletter, but there's still an attachment to the email, which I suppose is the 1x1 pixel image. Is there any way to prevent that attachment from occurring?

Hi,

Your logo is attached to all PS emails by default. The reason for this is so your logo appears in your emails even if images are turned off in the recipients email client (often). The problem with this, however, is that some email services (particularly hotmail) do not like attachments and will therefore interpret your message as spam unless the recipient marks it as safe. To solve this you need to edit Mail.php. How you do this depends n your PS version. See this post (post #5) for instructions. Using this method you can still use {logo} in your email templates and your logo will appear, it just wont be attached also.

Regarding Eolia newsletter module specifically, what I did here is delete everything in newsletter.html except {message}. That way only what you add to your template in the module (when composing your newsletter) will appear.

The error message "Info: You have crashed an existing backup!" just means that you have overwritten a previous template. This happens when you do not change the name of the template. If you want to keep both the old template and the new one you just need to change the name.

Hope this helps
