Advanced Menus & Categories - Do I need to buy a module?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am relatively green to Prestashop (novice) and I have created my website www.touratech.co.nz . We sell parts for motorbikes and the shop is setup for people to view products based on the make and model of their bike. We have over 6000 products and each product is also part of other categories e.g. Handlebars, Protection, Luggage etc...

What I am trying to do is, allow a customer to select their bike and then they can filter down based on the other categories. Example: A customer has a BMW F800GS they select their bike and then is shows another list of categories of products available for that particular bike.

At present if you select the bike you see all products for the bike and then you have to sift your way through them all. This is complex and time consuming so I believe steers people away, or prevents them finding what they need.

Any advise on a module or config that could help? I am also happy to pay for some consultancy on this one and may join one of the Prestashop Membership plans.

Any help welcome :-)

Thanks for reading

What if you keep adding subcategories below BMW F800GS?

That would mean that only the categories (not the parts) would show when you choose BMW F800GS and you would also get them to show in the menu.

Very time consuming, but it should work if there isn't some limit to how deep you can go with categories?

Thanks for your suggestion, I started doing this but time consumption was too high and very hard to maintain as this would mean more categories and some parts are cross compatible so with many other bikes therefore adding all the subcategories would be too much. :-(
