Endless loop after fresh install

Recommended Posts

I've installed a fresh install of Prestashop on my live domain ... everything went through perfectly ... got to the last step which told me to delete the install folder (which I did).

But when going to my site I get the following errors :

  • In Firefox - Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
  • In Chrome - This webpage has a redirect loop

I tried a fresh install on my local host and it all worked perfectly fine

Any ideas what this could be.

I mean, before installing you have a list of things prestashop recommends with green marks. Did you have any red mark? Also, can you access the back office? Is there any htaccess file in your root? You can try deleting that as well

Hi f12, you'll see the console popping up. THe first tab should display your html, check and see if you can find any link rel="sylesheet" and the url it's pointing to.

Then click on the resources tab and look for stylesheets, it should display a list of the included css files

Hi Nemo,

I redid the whole installation now from scratch, and I don't see the list with green and red marks you're talking about ... however, when logging into the back office I see the attached, see below (that resembles the red and green you spoke about)

I did a whole new installation (without any error or warnings), on the following test domain :

You can access the back office by [link removed] ... to see what I mean by the layout is all messed up

Hi weasel,

Older version can be downloaded here:

http://www.prestasho...lopers-versions

Did you download your current version from the prestashop site, or somewhere else? If somewhere else, try the official release from the page mentioned above.

My 2 cents,

pascal.

Also, check your host's requirements:

Hi Pascal, I've downloaded the current version (1.5.4.1) from www.prestashop.com

Thanks for the link to the older versions and the system requirements

I've tried installing version 1.5.3.1 tonight, but the installation kept on crashing 15% through while creating the database.

I've sent the system requirements on to my Server Admins. Waiting on their reply

Ok so I enabled the following in my php.ini on my server

  • GD
  • cURL
  • SimpleXML
  • SOAP

Can't find

  • MemCached
  • myCrypt

Now I get the following error :

CGI Error

The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers.

Any new ideas? I really, really, really need to get this site running, ASAP

So I had the server admin of the server where my domain is hosted have a look at this problem ... after long searching and scratching, he changed the Canonical URL setting in the back office to "No" ... now the site kind of load ... I can see some of my menu's and items, but there is NO formatting or layout

Hi weasel69, what are your settings under Advance Parameters>Performance ? Especially the ones that deal with caching, and recompiling.

Smart cache for CSS = Keep CSS as original

Smart cache for Javascript = Keep Javascript as original

Minify HTML = Keep HTML as original

Compress inline Javascript in HTML = Keep inline Javascript as original

Apache optimization = No

Use cache = No

My shop runs within a directory on my domain [www.sleepingcouchandsofa.co.za/shop]

Under SEO & URLs my setting looks like follows :

Shop domain : www.sleepingcouchandsofa.co.za

SSL domain : www.sleepingcouchandsofa.co.za

Base Url : /shop

Is that correct? It MUST be, because some of my pictures are showing ... it just seems to not load the template layouts and stuff

I checked the site... all css urls point to the correct files! BUT! All of the included files get a 500 error. There is something wrong with the server, can you try turning on errors if you didn't do it? (just read my signature :D)

  • 2 years later...

Hello Guys,

I too came across the same error. I tried all the solutions mentioned here, i turned off SEO Urls from BO, also deleted .htaccess file, and did a lot more. But after a bit of research and experiments, finally i found out the solution

Reason for problem :

Once we migrate from test/development servers to live servers, we also move from directory to main site. Then we make changes in ps_shop_url table. Here we update domain , domain_ssl and physical_url. Mostly here is where problem comes from. We tend to leave physical url field empty, as we think we have hosted it on root folder. But here are the settings the you should do :

1) domain : make sure that your domain doesn't have '/' in the end, For ex. don't keep it abcd.com/ , just make it abcd.com

2) domain_ssl : again, make sure there is no '/' in the end of url

3) physical_url : just put a "/" there.

Voila.. Problem Solved. :)

I ended up moving this domain to an Linux server ... redid the the installation ... and all is working 100% now

Seem like there is some Windows server configuration that Prestashop doesn't like?

I'm working on both nginx and IIS. They are flawless. I assume your issue was as simple as redirection settings in IIS or just a "/".

Glad to hear that your problem got solved.
