Moving from Magento, SSO and Site Speed

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

I'm looking at moving my Magento store to a new ecommerce platform, and Prestashop is one of the ones I am looking at. I do have two questions and concerns.

1. I read through some previous threads regarding SSO between Wordpress. Has anyone found a solution to this issue? Are there any plans on there being a solution for this?

Is there a SSO solution for IP Board? I believe you are using your IP board as your forum software, and was curious if you are using some type of SSO.

2. Store speed. This is the #1 issue I am worried about. I am leaving Magento due to site speed, and have read a few things about Prestashop's speed. How does the speed compare to Magento? The demo store did not seem fast enough for what I am looking for, although I know this has to do with servers.

Thank you for your input!

2. I moved from Magento to Prestashop exactly for that reason. Shop with 20.000 products, several combinations and 300 filtering options. Although Prestashop is not Magento, from the webspace you need to have a realy good space (best is own server, or a good managed one with a lod balancing system on a network of several servers and only 3-5 customers on the same webspace). Also caching system should be on board to have speed enough (parse from 2-3 seconds, for my shop). The speed is also bond to how many backbones far each request is trespassing. So if you are placed in China and the demo site is slow, so the problem is that the shop is hosted in France or on the other side of the world. In spite of this you should host there where your customers are placed.

Thanks for the reply cd. I currently have a VPS server, which I believe is more than enough to run my current site. Did you see a large speed increase when you moved from Magento to Prestashop using the same server?
