how to hide "out of stock" when "allow orders" enabled

Recommended Posts

When I select "allow orders" under quantities for specific products, I would like PS to not let the customer know that the product is on back order (i.e. to show the product as "available" rather than "out of stock"), particularly for products that have a high minimum order value. Since upgrading to the new version, these show as "out of stock" in the product list (and I'm not getting orders for these products as a result). Also the customer gets a message after ordering that the products are "out of stock".

In a perfect scenario I guess this seems like the right thing to do but in reality it just results in customers stressing that they won't get their order / asking lots of questions, so I prefer to handle such back orders manually.

Other than putting ghost products into stock (which I prefer not to do) is there some other way round this. A simple tick box in the back office to control how this is treated would be better (as I much preferred the old prestashop way of handling this).

On my old version of prestashop, if I selected "allow orders" for a specific product, it showed these products as "available" in the front office and did not update the cart as products being "out of stock".

UPDATE: I've realised this seems to be a(nother) bug. Some products do behave correctly and some (setup in the identical way) do not :(

No, most back orders are shipped out a couple days later (it's mainly large quantities to business buyers) but it's beside the point really... The software isn't behaving consistently the same... which is my concern. To get around this we're having to have ghost products in stock which isn't ideal

Sometimes when I set a product in the back office as "allow orders" it will show it in the product list as available and sometimes it will show it as out of stock, even if the settings on both are identical. That's a bit of an issue.
