URLS not indexed on google is this a prestashop sitemap problem or google issue? (presta 1.1) (EDIT)

Hi all,

Having looked in the google webmaster tools today it appears my urls are not indexed? Is this caused by the sitemap not working correctly in prestashop or a google issue ? Also the status of the site map has a warning sign. (using presta 1.1)

the sitemap looks ok - try replacing the & with just an & and don't know if placing one entry per line should help.

what is the exactly error you get from google?

Google admin section just says that no urls were indexed and theres a hazard sign in the status column ?

can't figure out what the problem can be - if a hazard icon is there - it must be a message somewhere by clicking it for instance.

In the previous google webmaster tools user interface any sitemap errors were clearly stated.

Hi Paul,
if possilbe, you should enable search engine friendly url's. You are wasting a lot of seo power.
I included a modified version by Paul C's excellent work witch I tried to make compatible with presta 1.1.
At least google has now 50 % in the index of my site. I wanted to test it before releasing it but after 2 weeks I am satisfied with the relsult.
But "This Version only works for SEO-friendly URL'S".

Thanks for gsitemap.php - Google sitemap v1.4.2 - by Paul C´s. I can confirm it works with presta 1.1. But please - It generated all products´ URLs well, but NO ONE URL for texts from Info block (created by CMS). I don´t know why? Thank you for help. d.

Edit: sorry, it works well also for URLs of CMS pages. (It was wrong instalation.)

Just found a possible reason as to why my sittemap not being indexed correctly by google, this is the warning I found in webmaster tools.

An invalid date was found. Please fix the date or formatting before resubmitting. (line2)

Can anyone advise what I need to do please ?

Below are a few lines from the sitemap.xml which contain invalid dates. How do I change all 10000 or so dates into the correct format ?

The other possible problem is that my server host has problems with "url rewrite on" so cannot use that.

Ok, Paulw01,
the good news is about 4050 of your urls are aready in the google index.

The bad news is from what my short analysis is, all the products are more or less not indexed. That, for my opinion has nothing todo with your sitemap working or not but is a problem that every artist has it's own category. On the product level there is in most cases the same info as on the category page or at least such few that google considers it simply as double content and ignores it. The situtation is not optimal as your category pages have no meta descriptions. This might be the little google juice that boosts your ranking and even it is not much it might be this little that will bring you maybe a little more on the top.
So from my point of view I would first forget about your sitemap "trouble". This helps google a little bit to find new content faster but as if your whole structure is not optimized a valid sitemap will possible make things not better.
If your hosting provider can not give you mod_rewrite for some extra bucks than it is crap. Change it. I can not understand why worrying months about your sitemap when you are not able to change the obvious and most important first.
If you really want your sitemap working ... there are text editors out there ... a simple find and replace your "0000-00-00" with a valid date is for modern computers not a big deal even if there are 1000000 entrys.

If you're lucky enabling seo urls will "convince" the google bot that your products page are also important and more and the important sites are indexed,too. If not consult a SEO pro for finding the best way to give the link juice to the product pages.

SOLVED - Kinda

I know the reason the 1.5 sitemaps are not accepted or indexed by Google.

Here is why ---

Google requires that all sitemaps URLs use the same URL PREFIX as the sitemap submission address. To explain - if your webmaster tools has your site address as http://yoursite.com then your sitemap address must also be http://

Most people enter their website into webmaster tools using http://www.

Just a reminder that your site url prefix must match the sitemap url prefix.
