removing add to cart button on product overview

Recommended Posts

hi, i am using prestashop 1.5.4 and want to remove the 'add to cart' button on the product overview. Reason is because I have added attributes and values to the products and want people to choose one of the values before adding to the shopping cart. But it seems that they can just add because of the following:

  • The row in blue is the default combination.
  • A default combination must be designated for each product.

So if they press 'add to cart' they will automatically add the default combination.

So my question would be:

Can I remove the add to cart button on the product overview?

Or even better, can I make it mandatory to choose the values like size and colour.

One more question. I have a product that requires a lot of customization (using attributes and values), but it seems that there is a limit to the number of attributes and values that I can add to the product. If I do to many, my backoffice only produces a white screen. In my shop the values are not added. Can someone help here as well?

if you have white screen "of death;)" then follow El Patron's guide here: http://www.prestasho...-or-blank-page/ (you will see more informations about issue)

This is the message I get

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes) in /home/business/domains/bushiswords.com/public_html/controllers/admin/AdminAttributeGeneratorController.php on line 45

so items with a lot of customization options are not possible?

ohh this error communicate mean that available on your hosting packet RAM memory resources were exceeded.

ok, can i ask my host to adjust this?

Also, i just counted the different possibilities for this product. I come to 118 billion combinations. Will that be a problem? I am also talking about performance of the page.

i am giving my clients the possibility to make a custom sword. Would it be an idea to split the sword in different products? Handle, blade, fittings, ...

Can i make sure that people take all 3 products?

For example i can price the blade, all other products (customizations) are free.

But I need to make sure that clients order all 3 products AND choose a value for each of the attributes in the product.

Now they can just 'add to cart' and automatically choose the default combination. That is not the intention ofcourse.

by the way, i am not using stock management. I presume prestashop has to create all these combinations to link it to the stock. But for me there are only 3 types of steel that determine the price. All other customizations are free. So if it should work more like a form, that would also be ok.

  • 2 weeks later...

Part of the original question still remains and I'm having the same problem. I've tried the various solutions I've seen but none of them work form me.

http://www.prestasho...has-attributes/

http://forge.prestas...anel#issue-tabs

http://forge.prestas...owse/PSCFV-9485

The problem is that it will be VERY easy for people to accidentally select the default combination. When it comes to default colour, there is a thin black box around the default combination instead of a grey box. Very easy to overlook that.

I think it's very important to be able to force people to make a conscious choice before adding to cart and so far I've found no way to do that.

EDIT: There has been some confusion on my part. To clarify, I want to prevent a default attribute/combination from being selected from the products page. It's on the prduct page that I want to hide/disable the add to cart button until an attribute has been explicitly chosen by the customer. Can I do that?
