pureclothings
Well I wanted to implement 21% tax for the customer from my country (Netherlands) and 0% to the customers for other countries. I created the tax rules, enabled tax and added the tax in the product page too. But the 21% tax is being added to everyone. When someone is not logged in in my website, then also the price is showing up with 21% tax added. What's the problem? Can anyone help me to solve this issue please. Thanks in advance

vekia
check the official documentation about taxes: http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS15/Understanding+Local+Settings#UnderstandingLocalSettings-Taxes you can define tax rules, then tax value will depend on the country. Hope that this is what you're looking for

I've created a tax rule to add 21% VAT for customer from Netherlands only, but the tax is added to all customers from all country. Why is it so?? It's creating big problem for me. Felisza
it's not working the taxes are already listed for every state in the US so I just disabled all but my state and the 6% is added in the tax rules and it is not adding the tax when I refresh my store. I set it to add it to the pre-tax retail amount. Can we get some help please.
sinkorswim
VAT doesn't seem to work properly in prestashop. However, if your selling retail you may be OK. You go to the Localisation / taxrules menu. Click edit and it seems like you can apply a tax rule to a specific country. It looks as if you are selling business to business - there are modules around that capture a vat number when exporting to another eu country - the sale is 0% vat as long as the buyer is themselves vat registered. JerseyG
Hi I am not sure what version you are on but I created a tax rule on version 1.5.2 and have since upgraded to 1.5.4.1 with it still working. The only item I can guarantee is that it works when someone creates an account. My requirement was 3 sets of tax regions and to do that I did the following:- I created a tax rule called “Tax Collector” I then added United Kingdom tax at 20% to this rule. I also added Jersey GST at 5% to this rule. All products have “Tax Collector” set as the tax Rule on the prices tag. Dependent on customers’ location either 20%, 5% or no tax is charged. I hope this helps you. G

johanDu
I have the same issue that tax rules does not apply anywhere, none what so ever. I feels like the tax rules have been disabled or something. I have done the following: - Changed localization defaults to be Sweden - Imported products from Sello (Third party product registry) - Created a tax and tax rule for Sweden At this point I hoped the tax rule would be automatically applied to the products when creating an account with Sweden as address but no tax is applied. Checking the products they also say Tax rule: No tax which might be prestashop default. I've also tried adding more countries and creating tax rules for those then changing my delivery country without success. The only thing working is going in on each product adding the tax and it is than permanently added regardless of rules. Please advice on this issue! sinkorswim
Don't bother. I cut my losses, changed to OpenCart and never looked back. VAT works properly, when I changed, it had more plugins and was a better written product in every way.
