rustyclockwork
Hello all, I've been researching Prestashop for about a week now, it sounds like it's right up my alley, especially with the CMS implimentation. I think my only questions before I take the plunge are regarding payment modules and infomation pages. Will the CMS allow me to create several hundred individual pages (searchable from my site and seo-friendly), basically a directory listing of closed businesses. I'm also wanting to use CMS to create a directory of rare books, hopefully seo-friendly) I think Oscommerce has a module called "article manager" but I could never get mine to work correctly. I'm hoping there is something similar for Prestashop. The other question is regarding Authorize.net's AIM... Do I really have to pay $200+ to use it? I don't need any advanced options... just want to capture and process a customer's CC info when they check out. Thank you for any thoughts, Jason
kg4geq
Not sure about the specifics on your CMS questions...I do use CMS and it's easy. I can answer the AIM module. It's free. Either the AIM or the SIM module for Authorize.net. I recommend the AIM module. I've used it and it works. Simple to setup.
rustyclockwork
Hi, thank you for answering the AIM question... To ellaborate on the CMS question, I basically want a link off to the side (among my other page links like "contact us" or "store directions") called "compendium" which would then show a list names of closed businesses, (similar to a product directory, only no prices listed) and when the customer clicks on one of the names of the business, a full decription shows up, including photos... (just like a product page, only no prices showing). To sum it up, I want something similar to a product directory, only for informational use, and no prices showing. I want to keep site layout uniformity throughout, which is what I'm shooting for. I'm hoping there is a mod that will allow me to insert an information page just like a product, only if I enter in no price, there will be no "add to cart" button shown, nor price displayed. I only want this happening inside the links known as "compendium" (for defunct businesses) and "library" for rare books used in my trade. kg4geq
I think there might be 2 routes you could go with PrestaShop for what you are wanting then. You could in fact make CMS pages with whatever you wanted in them and there are modules for CMS to show up in footer links, etc. But I think the better option for what you are describing is to just make products and in the product creation page (information tab) you can unselect "Available for order" and unselect "show price". This will then show up as a "product", but there is no price and not ability to add to cart as you suggested. So, it would just be an informational page.
