Split orders/Virtual shipping issue

Recommended Posts

We sell both PDF downloads and hard copy books. When a customer orders a combination of the two, Presta Shop splits the order into 2 orders: one with the hard copy books (with shipping charges), and one with the PDF books, also with shipping charges. I have compared the products and can't figure out why the orders are splitting and why customers are being charged shipping for PDF books, when they are virtual products with the PDF attached properly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What version of prestashop are you using? With shipping normal setting it's either all or nothing to change that you may need to buy one of the shipping modules to add functionality to the products. I bought one not too long ago because i needed to offer free shipping on one product and a fixed rate on another product and the shop was calculating it as you said.

We are using the most recent version of 1.5. I saw a module where you can also use combinations with virtual products, which would be really good, and also you can make combinations that encompass both virtual and hard products. I would be concerned that all the work we did to make the shipping work properly would be compromised with putting in a new module.

Also, when we updated to the most recent version of 1.5, many of the virtual products were compromised and the PDF files had to be reinserted, because they were gone!

I did notice that when you order "just" PDF downloads, you don't get charged shipping. It seems to only happen when a customer orders both a PDF book and a hard book.

Well the first thing you should do is back up your system both database and files, then try to install your mod, If the mod causes issues you can always uninstall it to revert back to the way it was. what module are you talking about I may have some experience with using it.

Because of things that have happened over the years with my shops I usually don't upgrade to the "newest" versions right away and wait a few to do so, that way it gives them a chance to work out any problems that might arise in the new versions such as "bugs" I usually use the newest version as my demo shop as well to test it for issues and that seems to work.
