New Install Can access backend but not front end...

Recommended Posts

HI I am New to Prestashop so go easy on me,

Ok my host is Cloud Next and they actually have Presta shop as an install option, as I wanted it installed on a subdomain and there is no option for that I asked admin to do it for me and they have done so.

I went through the install and set up and got to the Your installation is finished!

if I go through the link manage your store to the back end I get their fine and can navigate it fine.

However

If i go to the link that is discover your store from the install complete page I was getting an error message, I googled the error and it suggested a permission problem and it was right a lot of the permissions where set to 777 so i changed them but now I am getting the error message below

-------------------------

The website encountered an error while retrievinghttp://shop.roguextreme.com/index.php?. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

Error code: 500

PS. if it helps looking in advanced parameters in the back end under list of changed files it does say:

Changed/missing files have been detected.

Updated files (1)

  • admin1512/index.php

--------------------------------

Is there anyone who can help or shed any light on this please Kind regards

Hi Dominic,

It seems that somehow your index.php is missing in your shop root folder, maybe during a permission problem or other reasons.

I'll add an index.php file. (Prestashop 1.5.4.1). Try to upload it to your shop root folder and see if it runs. (I changed the filename to have an txt extension, as Prestashop doesn't want php files to be uploaded. Just rename to index.php)

Maybe change the permissions to 644 if needed

Hope this helps,

pascal

Hi Pascal VG,

Thank you very much. I looked and there was an index.php present in the root folder, however i did delete it and replace it with yours and still had the same issue.

any other ideas,

thanks again for your time and help with this.

"Changed/missing files have been detected"

as you can see, it means that script detect "changed" or "missing" files. in this case it is related to the changes.

everything is okay in my opinion with this file and back office.

the problem you've got is a bit different and it isn't related to this file.

to debug internal server error (500) please follow @El Patron's suggestion here: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/224525-how-to-get-debug-information-for-500-error-or-blank-page/

then if any error appear - please paste the error code here

Ok something went horribly wrong as I lost access to both the front end and backend.

Here is what I have now done that might shed some light on this problem.

I wiped and repeated my install few times and got the same error time.

So i started with a blank canvas ( a seperate domain I am yet to build a site for) I run the set up and as if by magic Presta shop worked fine I can log into both the back and front end all working fine.

So the problem seems to be coming from having Joomla on my main directory and installing PrestaShop in a separate directory (sub-domain pointed to directory).

Does anyone understand this issue and if so is there a way around it.

Many thanks

Dom

SOLVED

This was a setting in Joomla causing the problem. I am actually unsure what the error was as i changed quite a bit at once but once I work out what fixed it I will post here incase anyone else has the same issue.

Thank you all for your guidance whilst trying to resolve this issue.
