Prestashop User Website

Recommended Posts

Hi

I think it would be great if there was a Prestashop Users Website, made by users for users. This could have a number of helpful features like:-

Forum - Although we have a great Forum right here, it specialises in PrestaShop only. A Forum that has sections for on all sorts of different topics would hopefully attract users and keep it active. Sections from PrestaShop to other website/developer help and even sections for off topic posts. It would not be directly related to Prestashop, but would all be linked. E.g. If someone needed help with an image editing program, while designing a logo for their shop. They are unlikely to post here, but on a prestashop forum with a dedicated section. Sometimes things can also get put in the wrong Forum here, and it is time consuming for the PrestaShop team to moderate the Forums. On a user site the Forums will be moderated by other dedicated users, a lot who wouldn't mind having this responsability. I am not talking about forgetting about the current forum in any way.

Chatroom - A Chatroom where users could chat about anything really, but if someone needed a quick bit of advice or solution to a problem that didn't seem necessary to post in the forums, they could come on and hopefully get some advice from another user.

Guides - User created guides/tutorials on how to customise/manage your PrestaShop.

Articles - Basically a sort of new section where new modules, hints, ideas etc are published.

File Download Section - Not necessary, but might be a useful place to easily download different modules, themes etc
Even a sort of database with links to where they can be downloaded would be helpful.

I know there are other user created sites out there, but a sort of all in one would be great. I don't want any criticism on this saying 'Why don't you do this' as I don't have the knowledge. I know it would take a lot of work to do and I think it would be greate if anyone even considered it slightly.

Every other ecommerce solution has a similar site, Why not Prestashop?
After all, it is the best ecommerce solution, in my opinion.

Thanks

What's wrong with the current website/forum?

I know, the Wiki is not updated or outdated, there is no moderating on the forums (posts all over the place), there is zero to less documentation but hé, 1001 same questions and same answers give enough to read.........

I know PS-team, this is a self moderating and regulating forum...., and evendough we all have seen that this has not worked in the last year why should we change?
Maybe because then we all realy can bennefit from it?

I'm not talking about change, but rather improving on what is already there. I think it would also attract new users to PrestaShop.
If there was such a forum, I would definitely use both, and not forget about the great forum we have here. I think it just needs to be open to a broader range of things. As with any popular service that has it's own forum, you will probaly find that there are other user created forums out there.

why do you need to develop another community and have prestashop info all over the web?
would not be better to stay here and just try to work to improve this forum with prestateam?

the chat rooms is some great idea, maybe prestateam can introduce that and add it to this forum?
if you are talking about digital design sections/conversations then prestashop is not the right place for it 9unless they introduce a new form for those discussions.

moderating is good, but it is not critical. i see prestateam members making efforts in arranging the threads and moving them around.

but overall, it will always be better to stay here and not move else where, simply because people get excited about something, and the whole comunity will make an effort, then the community host gets a job or goes to travel or or or , then the whole things is lost... while here, the community will always be alive for as long as prestashop is a live project.

that was just my opinion

Because I use to make a listing of modules http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/12539 posted on forum by community members (now more than 150), just to find them because it's a mess on forum (there is no index) and because Prestashop Team will not do anything to organize Community contributions as they tell us. Do not forget that they are modules sellers... ;-) So community has to organize itself.

We would be happy to do it with Prestateam and we asked for this for longtime.... but nothing. Team is too busy and don't plan to do it !

just to have chat and file share?

who will be commited to it, what if the effort will be lost in a year when the moderators lose interest... (maybe because they got rich lol)

why dont we ask prestateam to provide things instead
