A2 Hosting or InMotion Hosting?

Hi

 

These 2 host providers are recommanded by Prestashop, I want to get the VPS basic plan.

 

A2 $32.99 give you 2G of ram

 

Inmotion hosting : $34.99 give you 512 Ram with 1GB burstable memory.

 

Ovbiously that is the big difference 2G VS 512?

 

Which company would you recommend anyone?

We use inMotion Hosting. Normally everything runs smoothly. Everything is adjustable. Their service perfect. Only have quite regularly 'update sessions'. Although our site isn't that crowded that I will miss out on loads of customers because of this, it may be a point of concern.

We have had some suport issues from inMotion hosting.

 

Waiting 4 hours to get a reply, only for it to say that the info we provided is incorrect (even though it was correct).

 

Resent all the info again, and asked to get a confirmation they got it, waited 8 hours and still nothing.

Finally we email again, they said "sorry, you did send the correct info".

 

Problem is still not solved, no one is getting back to us.

 

We used them for our main site, we switched the main site to a dedicated server (dedicated now), and only use inmotion for our test servers (we have about 50, which would be a big hassle moving to a new server).

That is definitely not typical of their service in my experience. We've had really good feedback with them from users. I wonder what the issue was.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with the support staff.  My name's Arnel and I work with the Community Support team here at InMotion. We have several teams that strive to provide either answers to issues or feedback to our management team so that we can improve problem areas.  It appears that you were trying to use a hosting solution, but I'm not yet aware of which account it was.  Can you provide a little more detail on the account such as a URL? This way I can bring it up as an issue with our managers.  Based on what you said, it doesn't appear that you were able to get the issue resolved.  Can you provide any more detail on the problem so that I can run down the issue for you?

I would be happy to help, if you would let me. We do host many people running PrestaShop on our services and it has been a focus for us in terms of documentation and support.  Please let me know how I can help and hopefully turn this negative experience into a more positive one.

Thanks for the response!  I went ahead and reviewed the support tickets  - the last 4 of them.  I can certainly understand your concern (to put it mildly) on some of the responses - especially the unnecessary verification response.  Issues that require more in-depth review are also either sent to our System team or to Community support. There needed to be a little more emphasis on the issue being PrestaShop related (on our end) as well.  The problem would have gone to key personnel if it was noted as such. I've relayed this issue to my own manager.  

 

Concerning the times in response to the tickets, depending on the volume that the support staff are seeing, there may be a few hours involved in the response times.  Generally, the response time is within 24 hours.  I also highly recommend that you send feedback to [email protected] when you are dissatisfied with the service. It goes straight to our managers and customer care advocates.  
 

I have responded to your last ticket to address the VPS loading issue - instead of publicly pasting the issue here in the forum.  I hope this helps to clarify the problems you've been having.  Technical Support with InMotion Hosting is available through phone, chat, email and the Support Center.

BTW: regarding response time, I surely understand, as we are also in the customer service business, and get a lot of requests at times, and can take a while to respond..

 

The part that irked me though, was getting a response that the account information I provided was incorrect, I naturally wanted to make sure you had the correct info, so the issue would be addressed quickly, so I replied right away and requested confirmation that you had the correct info.

 

This is where I waited another 8-10 hours and when I didn't get a response, I sent another message.

I have just migrated to A2 and the live chat gurus are great, unfortunately i had a server connection error and get my ticket has been open from 18 oct till now, i have written to them almost daily now recently, i am so frustrated as the server side configuration and all cannot be accessed and i can't get anyone to assist even if i can.

 

Can anyone help or suggest what i should do ? i cant just sit there and let my business rot, my load time has more that quadroupled from 2 sec to 8-10 sec . one of the crashes caused files to be missing as apparently it was processing a payment at the time and caused all sorts of issue. since then it has been patched up external help.

 

anyone can recommend a course of action please ? i dont know much about comp and really need some help. Who can i complain to and any good hosting anyone can recommend ? this is a nightmare for me.

i have already saved the ticket thread and its almost a month!

We are using A2 Hosting Managed VPS plan and InMotion Hosting Shared plan for our shopping carts.

 

Both are good.

 

Few weeks ago we faced some server issues with A2 Hosting and they fixed that within few hours.

Dear charmaineH

Please try to contact A2 support team using Chat. But sometimes they take more than 15 minutes waiting tome to connect with the customer.

We are using A2 Managed VPS Hosting for our Prestashop cart from 2013.

Before we've used 4 other hosting provides from 2007 for our websites and migrate to A2 and InMotion Hosting
