Yoda
I am helping 3 customers to set up sites. One of them is done except the meta tags. They have 700 products and 5 categories. I have set up all top search key words for the categories. My questions is should I set up top key words for every products, if so, there will be only 10 key words for the entire products? Or should I set up top search key words for 50% products, and some not top search key words for the rest of the 50% so that I can catch all of the key words? What is your suggestions? Thanks for your help.
Floobynooby
Your 2-3 main keywords should be used for your home page, then if you are selling say mugs, cups, and saucers, your next major keywords should be used for each section that will likely use up all the big keywords. I would then go through all the remaining keywords and target the different cups, saucers and mugs etc at the long tail keywords, or any remaining keywords I think worth pursuing. If there are loads of major keywords, I would ass information pages to target then and direct them to products, don't try and target each page with more than 2-3 keywords or it will confuse the search engines as to what each page is about keep it simple and if you need more pages add them. Yoda
Hi Floobynooby,Thank you for your help. My another questions are how many keywords should I put in per each product? Somebody said should be as many as possible. Somebody said should only be few. How few? 10? 5? 3? How should I order the key words? Should I put the main keyword as the first order, and then the next important keyword and so on? Or it doesn't matter? Somebody said that the SE only take the first 3....Is it okay to put the same keywords but different meta title for some pages? Will the SE knows they are different pages? Somebody said if the keywords are the same, the SE only index once. Is it right?Do I need to only concern about the meta keywords? Will the meta titles and descriptions matter too? Somebody said I should also put some keywords in the meta titles and descriptions. Is it right? Thank you again for your kind help.
Floobynooby
I would aim each product at a keyword that you use in the url name, tie the same in with the description, title and keywords, then text on the page. Think of seo as ticking the boxes, you have the tools there so why not tick as many of the boxes as you can in terms of unique title, page name, keywords, description and text, get some links and then you will start to get traffic.Yes you should use one to two keywords in title, one in page url, a few in the description and keywords add what you want.
