hippooflove
Hi Boy am I getting frustrated. I have been having a problem with shipping on my site and have been trying toi fix it. AND as usual I take one step forwards and three back. I have now been a complete numbskull and delete the United Kingdom and USA from the countries list on the shipping list. I have tried to add a new one but it does not put it back into the list. The problem is now that, not only that customers cannot buy from me, they cannot even log on if they are uk based.HELP ALLTHANKS in advance for any help.PS are there any books or help on maintaing sites in Prestashop as the person I bought my site package from as vanished. first1
Yes you can add the country again, It should not be a problem. If you are using a version that has a bug, then you can still add it in the database using phpmyadmin.Dont you have a backup of your database for the time you did the change? you can restore it maybe?Rule1: Never make a change before backup. especially if you are live
hippooflove
Thanks for the replies.I know people with my knowledge should not be let loose with computers but I am going to ask anyway.1.How do I find which version I have?2. how do I make a back up?3. how do I add a country?4, what and where do I find phpmyadmin?I am sorry but I really am in at deep end with this. I like the sites that presta shop lets you build but it does seem very unfriendly in terms of available info.once again thanks for all your help
first1
No Problem, will do my best to help, so does anyone else, it is a free software and what is on here is what we make out of as community.1.How do I find which version I have?log in to the back office and look at the bottom of the page and that would tell you something like: Version 1.2.1.0 2. how do I make a back up?Again, in the back office, you have to go to tools then DB backup. and create a backup (if you have error creating a backup then you have to change the permission to 777 of the folder /whatever your admin/backup) - dont ask how to change permission, FTP (like filezilla, connect to your site, find your renamed admin folder, right click and change attributes (to 777) 3. how do I add a country? read the whole paragraph before start clicking. In the Back office again, go to shipping then click on countries. there you can click add new (but i am sure that your country in on the list there, double check first).4, what and where do I find phpmyadmin?that is part of your hosting service, you can usually access it from the CPANEL that is provided to you by your hosting provider.Google it

first1
to make you userstand how this thing work, i will try to explainthere is a list of countries (under shipping -> countries), each country belong to a zonethere is a list of zones (under shipping -> zones)then under shipping --> carriers (when you edit any carrier , it shows what zones it includes)so reverse.Carrier will say what zone. the zone will say what countries include... simple logic.check it out

first1
well if you are able to back up the whole site including the databases then no, it does not make a difference as long as someone can recover the whole thing from the backup that you make.I always make a test senario on my sites:I back up then i recover from it before go live
