[solved] cant move products inside category

I have prestashop 1.5.4.1 and cant change up or down on products to move them inside a category.

I have already set filter by categories in products view. I have selected the category I want to filter, it shows all the items within that category, but does not show any up or down movement arrows in the position side on the right hand side.

in the catelog/categories/view page of that category it shows the up/down movement arrows. but not in the products view.

I had this problem on 1.5.3 so:

 

1.If you have multistore activated make sure you have a store name activated as well.

 

2. De-activate your categories, try moving with "drag and drop" then re-activate your categories.

 

Both these worked for me

Multistore is activated by going to:

 

Back Office > Preferences > General > click to activate

 

To Deactivate Categories go to:

 

Back Office > Catalog > Categories > click gree "tick" on the right

I set the filter for the categories in product view, I selected the category I wanted to filter, but nothing showed up, no up or down movement arrows in the position side on the right hand side. then I noticed some little up and down arrows below the postition title name on the right hand side. I clicked on the down arrow and all of a sudden the movement arrows appeared, so I could finally move my items up the list.

Thanks to all, I followed your suggestions and worked. Then found new problem.

 

After making the changes, I noticed that all products went back to the original order.

So I understood that products go back to original order (I mean id order) when I edit a product.

 

Actually, I did not make any change in the product: by moving products accindentally "product global information" page opened. With no changes I just closed the page, then all the products went back to the original order (id order).

 

How is it possible to make the change permanent?

My PrestaShop versione is 1.5.3.2

Again, this "drag and drop" language but nowhere can I see this ability.

 

Can we finally explain whether we can drag and drop categories (or products) to re-order them or do we have to use those incremental (one step at a time) arrows?

if you click one time on arrow mentioned above, then "drag n drop" feature will be active

Thank you Vekia... it finally worked!!!

 

To clarify, click and HOLD the arrow (very important to hold) and the highlight bar turns orange (for me) and then drag away!!!
