Guest & Visitor Account ?

Recommended Posts

In my test 1.5.4.1 site which is an upgrade of my online site I need to figure out how to remeove the guest and visitor account here is why.
I have entered a standard price then added specific prices for standard and team accounts.
When you visit my site you will see

Retail price: $300.00
Your Price : $225.00

http://team-shepherdusa.com/shop15

So I am working on an upgrade to 1.5.4.1 but when you go to this site the guest/visitor sees the original price

Your Price: $300.00

not the standard price we sell to anyone for.

This may cause them to move on to the next site without any thought of registering to see the actual price we would sell to them for.
Is there a way to remove these accounts.

Thanks

Hi,

If you have discount of a specific percentage for all products, you can simply apply the discount in bulk under B.O > Customers> Groups. On this page, just click on "Edit" button for the group you would want to modify and then just set the discount.

If you have a discount different on each products, you will have to add this manually for each product. On the B.O, on the product page, click on "Prices" and then on "Add specific price rules". Select the discount you want to add and the group would you like to apply the discount.

Sorry but the issue is not adding I know very well how to do that, I just don't want to have to add the base price again to 800+ products.

If you read the post you will see that I have added specific prices for standard and team, as this was an upgrade from 1.4 that does not have guest/visitor when you go to the 1.4 site the standard discount is displayed whether you have an account or not.

With the 1.5 site if you don't have an account or even if you do but are not signed in you only see the original price not the price we sell it for.

It would be far easier if I could just remove the guest/visitor then adding 800+ more specific prices.

Thanks.

Bump for this as I am testing a 1.5 site again, the real issue is that we have a retail price, then 2 added specific prices.

One is our web price that everyone should get then our team price that only team members get.

I have tried to add the same % discount to the customer group but that also has an issue as some of the products have different % discount.

So while most products work this way the big ticket items that we give a larger discount are incorrect.

If nothing else there should be a way to enable and disable these accounts. ie: guest & visitor

Or a work around like deleting them from the database.???

Well once again I found a solution on my own, using a back up of the database I copied the last row into Excel.

I then copied each section into its own cell, this way you can use Excel's nifty drag and create feature to create more entries.

First I changed the ID # to 1 of the first cell and created a second cell with the number 2, then when you drag and create it automatically #'s the cell consecutively.

One I created 923 cells which only took seconds I then went through the original list and changes any % #'s that were different by using the cell # to find each one.

I then deleted the entire column containing the group ID (1) and changed the first cell to 5 (visitor) then dragged that down to the last cell automatically placing 5 in all 923 cells.

I then deleted the column containing the specific price ID, looked at the original specific price table to see the last entry which was 1846 (I have 2 entries for each product standard & team) then numbered the first and second entries in Excel to 1847 & 1848 this way when you drag the cells they get # consecutively.

I then copied the Excel page and pasted to the bottom of the specific price table in Notpad++ then copied that table and pasted in the SQL of the database once this was done I now have a specific price for guest & visitor groups so now the correct prices show on the site for people visiting the site and are the same as those with accounts that are not team members. (Web Price)

I know this sounds like a lot but did this in about a half hour as apposed to editing 923 products and adding a specific price for visitors to each one.

One other thing why do we need guest and visitor accounts anyway aren't they the same thing if someone is visiting are they not a guest and if you have a guest are they not a visitor???

We did fine without these in 1.4 without issues would like to know that thought behind this.
