ruchit.devil
hi, I have developed my first eCommerce website on a local server. Now i want to transfer it to a web hosting server. I am confused with the shared, vps, cloud vps and dedicated server. which one should i go with? Also the web hosting company asked me about the system requirement for hosting. They asked me the following: 1. How many processors required? 2. How much of RAM is required? 3. How much of disk space? 4. How much of bandwidth? 5. Which operating system, LINUX or Windows? 6. Number of IP Addresses? 7. Control Panel required? Can someone please guide me with this matter. I reside in India, can someone from India recommend me the best hosting partner. regards..... El Patron
you want to run apache NOT IIS if this is your first shop, then you may want to start out with a shared hosting account. For the most part, you will find they have sufficient resources, but you should make sure hosting sets up say 128 or better yet 256mb for php. vps will give you more kick, but typically costs significantly more than a shared hosting account. its a good option if you can get a good price on it...as you will have more flexibility with your server options. cloud vps/ would be fun, but I have no experience with that 'yet'...but would think it's similar to an old school vps one IP address unless you are going to run mutlishop and require ssl for each shop, then depending on your ssl you will need an ip for each ssl..NOTE: if you pick a host outside of your target country, then ask them for an IP that resovles to your country, this for SEO purposes. I'd start out with a simple shared hosting until you get your shop up and running. another tip, do not simply upload your localhost shop, first use the ps installer on the tremote host so that it can check your server configuration...if all good you can delete it and move your localhost to your remote. make sure to google your question, as this has been asked numerous times and you can get more info that way... good luck
