Bug or feature? Check Out vs Cart buttons

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have been testing Prestashop extensively for a while and have a question for the community. I have been searching the forum, but not been able to find any discussion on this topic, so please bear with me if this has been discussed before:

When finished shopping, it is intuitive for me to click "Check Out"...
(a) If not logged in, this takes me to the "Login" page. After logging in (and registration if applicable), I'm transfered further to the "Address" page.
(B) If logged in, I'm directly transfered to the "Address" page.

In either case, the "Summary" page is for some reason skipped. The "Summary" page is where the client enters the voucher code, which is how I first faced this problem, i.e. trying to find out where to enter my voucher code. Not using the "Check Out" button at all, but instead using the "Cart" button, solves the problem and takes me to the "Summary" page. This is OK as long as I'm logged in. If not logged in, I can't use a personal voucher (the error message "voucher name not valid" will show).

So, dear friends, is this a bug or a feature? :) If feature, I think it would be interesting to hear more about it. If not feature, this is how I think it should work when clicking "Check Out":

(a) If not logged in, transfer the user to the "Login" page. Then, when logged in, transfer to "Summary", then to "Address".
(B) If logged in, transfer to "Summary", then to "Address".

After "Address" everything could be as is.

Using the "Cart" button, the process could be left as is, except
(a) that the "Vouchers" field should not be visible unless logged in
(B) the "Summary" is shown again after the "Login" page, but before the "Address" page

I would be very happy to hear your feedback on this. Thank you!!
