copying categogies / products to a new category ?

I did a search on the forums - but no joy.

Is it possible to setup a category and products and then copy the category and the products to another category - and then slightly amend the new category/products ?

I am about to do a shop - it will have 3 categories with 18 products in each.
Each category will roughly be the same apart from an extra colour (this is how the store owner wants it)

So rather than type in 16 products 3 times - I want to do it once and then copy and amend them.

Import then from the same csv file into each shop would be my suggestion.
