ramblingrose
I use Xampp for years on my local machines with Win2000, WinXP, Vista, (K)Ubuntu etc. and never experienced problems with it. Depending on your needs you might need to alter some configuration files but that should be it. If it doesn't work for you you must have made some error when installing the package and it would indeed very much help if you could explain what doesn't work... The latest package I have from apache.org is xampp-win32-1.7.2.exe (for windows) and maybe you have a corrupted download if you mean it doesn't even start at all? Richie75
I downloaded the Xamp software from apachefriends.org and got the above message which I copied & pasted the exact message as follows:C:\Documents and Settings\debbie\Desktop\xampp-win32-1.7.2.exe.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.Try again later, or contact the server administrator.Any suggestions? Thank you so much.
ramblingrose
You might have stumbled upon a temporary problem with apache.org and should try again to download the file. As it says 'try again later', that just happens sometimes.
Richie75
I guess it could be a temporary problem, but I don't think it is. It says when I click on my newly downloaded xamp software, that it does not have the software to run this. what software do I need to run Xamp? Thank you. ramblingrose
If you have a file from apache.org named C:\Documents and Settings\debbie\Desktop\xampp-win32-1.7.2.exe.part it means the downloaded was not completed correctly, otherwise it would be C:\Documents and Settings\debbie\Desktop\xampp-win32-1.7.2.exe, and you can not install Xampp before you have a correct file on your computer. Best to download again.
