Klayton2112
Hi guys, I have to update one of my stores from Prestashop 1.4.4.1 to 1.5.4 (I know there are some problems with the new database). But before doing this, I've an idea: is it possible to make a new installation of PS 1.5.4 in local for testing (with a new template good for the 1.5.4), and there add all the information to the new DB extracting all the clients, orders, settings ecc... from the online version 1.4.4.1? After that I suppose that we have a clone version of the store but with the new 1.5.4 (I know that we have to change again some translations, settings and maybe something else). After solved all the problems, the store can go online. Maybe this way will be less problematic than updating the store and trying to solve the problems with the db. After doing this, we have to change the store from one language to multi language preserving the old links (we have a strong seo) with a redirect 301 from example.com/31-example-article.html -> to example.com/it/31-example-article.html in the htaccess file. For anyone interested, please let me know how much should be for this work. Thank You in advance, Best Regards Alex
newinprestashop
Hi Klayton2112, I did myself recently such a project.I updated ''manually'' my store from 1.4.3 to 1.5.3.1.It was a lot of work indeed actually I did a new website but of course using the data from old shop. Also I chosen a new theme which I liked. Steps: 1.Install latest ps 1541 version on local server (It's much much better to install direct into a subfolder on online server and finally when all work properly just switch the websites. It's needed one extra data base on live server !!!); 2.I used a new theme because I'm afraid the theme from old shop doesn't work; 3.Prepare all the data.Firstly export them from old shop in .CSV file and fill out with necessary data the new .CSV spreadsheets in accordance to model in <Advanced parameters> and <Import CSV> in back office of the 1.5.4.1 Presta Shop.Because they are not the same this step must to be done manually. This is the hard work, depends on the size of the shop. When the data are ready then it's easy. The process of importing them it's going nicely. 4.Export languages from 1.4.4.1 and import into the new 1.5.4.1 shop. This could be done in <Localization> and <Translation> also in BO (back office).Very important; 5.I could not import the images of the products with .CSV but I read that it's possible with 1.5.4.1 automatically which I could not guarantee unfortunately. 6.Set up locally the new shop and after testing (a lot) and verify the translations you may to move online. This is another story how to do this. The topic is covered already in the forum. Finally I wrote down a link to my new store online which I updated by myself: http://www.sahjocurilogice.ro Of course I didn't describe all the details but the main idea it's there. For any other questions I will answer gladly.Sorry for my english.
