Changes to the Alternative theme

I would like to use the Alternative Responisve template (http://addons.prestashop.com/en/fashion/6727-alternative-clothes-responsive-store.html), but I would like to make some changes to it that would require some customized coding to the product viewing page that are beyond the choices

that are already provided. Is it possible to make those sort of changes to a theme or would I have to have a new store developed to my liking?

 

I have attached two images of what I would like to accomplish with the product viewing page. What I like most about this type of veiwing page is that it primarily focuses on the selected product and the images are large allowing a user to get a very close look at the product-overall making it a very clean and straight forward page.

I'm new to prestashop, so i'm not sure of what the perimeters are with the themes.
