Private Products?

Is it possible to have private products for specified customers?

Since almost half my business is 'dealer' or 'wholesale' and my products are custom manufactured, I want to be able to put up the custom products on my website under a certain category, but only for specific users, in a specific group.

For instance, I created a group called 'Dealers'. These dealers will have an extra category called 'My Products'. Under this, they will have there specific products that I have setup for them.

Does anyone know how to do this?

When you edit one category, on the bottom, you have the list of customer groups that can access this category and associated products.

Unselected the restricted group for all cateroies, except for the category you will have accessible to this restricted group

The only problem I seem to be having now, is the ability to 'hide' all categories except for users who belong to it. For instance, I have created categories with my customers names, ie;

'Widget company'

However, I only want 'widget company' to show up when the user from 'widget company' is logged in.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Uncheck the customer group 'Default' for that category.

Thanks for the reply! I've tried this method, and unfortunately it still shows up in the menu. When I click on the items, i do get an error saying I don't have permissions to view this category.

Maybe this will require some custom coding?

It disappeared from the menu when I tried it.
