Prestahop mobile theme holding up installation and won't delete

I've been trying to install 1.5.4.1 but I keep getting stuck at page 2 that says recursive write permissions on files and folders need correcting. I had them all at 755 and changed them to 777 but I still get the error. However I notice that the mobile theme module will not change permissions and it won't let me delete it either, says I don't have permission. I suspect this is the problem with the installation. How do I get rid of the d*mn thing or at least change the chmod?!
