Link shipping costs/couriers to suppliers

Recommended Posts

Hello,

In my new PrestaShop website I have 5 different suppliers for all the products I sell. Actually, my new ecommerce will be a dropshipping ecommerce (I have no stock, everything I sell will be shipped directly by the supplier on my behalf).

Every supplier has its own shipping costs. Let's say there will be just one courier for each supplier and every supplier has its own pricelist for shipping (ie. supp1 has 7€ for orders until 50€, 3€ for orders from 50,01 to 100€ and free otherwise; supp2 has 8€ for orders until 200€ and free otehrwise, etc...).

How could I manage these shipping rates on PrestaShop? Any suggestion?

Thank you,

regards.

As far as I know, there is no way of linking shipping costs with suppliers. Couldn't you do it in a different way? What about creating carriers based on weight limits and setting weight of products based on suppliers?

So i.e. you had Product 1 and Supplier 1 + Product 2 and Supplier 2. Product 1 weights 10kg, Products 2 weights 100kg. Now it's only about setting the carriers the right way.

Hi,

Reading the subjects above, i have an additional question.

Lets say a customer has 2 different products in his cart, from 2 different suppliers, the products wil be shipped from 2 different carriers.

so like the following: 2 products in 1 shopping cart:

  • product1 - carrier1 - delivery costs $2,95
  • product2 - carrier2 - delivery costs $6,95

  • total shipping costs $9.90

but if the customer has 2 products in his cart that are delivered by the same carrier it only has to charge a 'single' shipping price

like the following:

  • product1 - carrier1 - delivery costs $2,95
  • product2 - carrier1 - delivery costs $2,95

  • total shipping costs $2,95

I'm relatively new in Prestashop, and mostly a front-end developer, with a descent knowledge of php, but Smarty is pretty new for me. So maybe it is simple to solve, otherwise can anyone suggest a module for it if it's necessary.

Regards Paul!

(I'm from the Netherlands, so i tried my best in English hope u understand:-) )

Thanks, it could be a solution! Otherwise, what do you think if I create a new module that calculates shipping costs or choose the right carrier at the time of order confirmation? Too complicated?

What solution did you end up going with? If you made a module I would definitely buy it, please let me know!
