How to insert a big set of products on easy way?

Recommended Posts

Hello colleagues,

I am continuing my journey with prestashop. At the moment I have to insert a big set of product to the shop. If I have to do it one by one it will took too many time. Is there any other way, I mean for example with excel file? I Have the products in excel table so how can I import them from the file automatically?

Thanks in advance

I saw the tool but I need something different.

At the moment I have around 200 products entered by hand. Is it possible to export them to csv file with all fields?

I have to edit for example the prices for all products and after that I have to import all products back to the database. After a month the products will be more than 300 and every month I need to update the prices for all products.

As I see import/export buttons cannot be used, because export cvs format is different than import.

How can I do this actions? Is it possible with default tools?

you can achieve this in many ways, you can use default tools (that i mentioned) you can also go to the preferences > CSV import

another thing is to use database managers, for example - PHPMyAdmin - you can export there all products, you can also import stuff there. But in this case you have to be familiar with mysql

I have strong expirience with mysql and php and many other things. At the moment I am searching for ecommerce platform to use for my future projects. In the past I have created my own platform for that but it is not so feature rich as PS.

If I should use PHPMyAdmin to edit database it means PS does not have a good tool for products' import/export.

Exactly.. The default tool for imports/exports is not the best. But that's not a big deal, because there are plenty of them with best "custom" the mysql import/export as vekia mentioned and "ps customized" store manager for prestashop by emagicone.. These are the best according to my opinion.. The 2nd one has a big plus because you can work offline and synchronize later!! Regards B)

Hmm I never heard about emagicone. Can you give an url to see it? Is it free?

I found it. It cost $348!

Very strange that this gorgeous software don't have such simple tool as product import/export in the same format. It will be very useful.

I am just curious what is the benefit to have product export in different format than import?

Some ideas from magento:

Basically you can use the import/export tool to do mass imports of products. It makes it much easier if you would like to add 50 products all at once, you would just create a csv or xml file with the matching fields for the database, add your information and then use the import tool to import the products. You can retrieve a sample csv or xml file, by doing an export.

Vekia: Yes I mean that one!

Tolito: You mean different formats in prestashop or in Store Manager?
