1.5.4.1 unable to generate .htaccess

I am using 1.5.4.1

When I first install this version, it does not have .htaccess file in my root folder.

so I created one.

 

However it is always empty. It does not generate anything although I have tried :

1. turn URL friendly ON and OFF

2. turn URL cononical ON and OFF

 

I have also check with my server/hosting, about the mod_rewrite and they confirm that it is already active by default.

I have also tried to use other others people's .htaccess to make sure if it is working, and yes it is working.

what about permissions to root dir of your prestashop store? maybe you've got wrong CHMOD for this dir?

which folder do I have to check for the permissions? and what it should be?

root directory of your prestashop, chmod depends on your hosting settings.. btw

 

you said that you created .htaccess file manually, try to change chmod to this file - for example - to 777

Okay, so what I do is set it to 777, so it generates .htaccess

when there is already content in my .htaccess,

i set the permission back to 644

hopefully everything works fine now

well, it's better to use other CHMOD types, but everything depends on your hosting configuration. Where you've got hosting?
