LBPC
Hi all Complete noob, bit confused after much reading, any advice apprecated! I've just installed latest prestashop on 1&1, both front & back office appear to be working (which is a real testament to PS' tutorials & forum posts as I am hopeless at this stuff). My question is: when I transferred the files to the server with filezilla, the files moved over without the prestashop folder I see in all the tutorials, so it looks like this: I have 1 store/1 domain (at the moment), so I was going for this: Your needs: If you want your shop to be the main website for your domain name (i.e., http://www.myprestashop.com), upload PrestaShop at the root folder of the upload space (which may depend on the host). Did I get it right? Shouldn't there be a prestashop folder at the top there? Should my site name be shown as the Site distant (remote site)? I ask because when launching, the auto-launcher didn't launch, so I follwed the tutorial to: http :/ /your_server/prestashop_folder/ install which also didn't work, so I took a guess and removed the "prestashop_folder/" bit from the address. Voila. Finished installation. She's live. I then deleted: The "install" folder The "docs" folder The "README.md" file the index.html file that was already there (though I now can't find the tute that told me to do that...) The site IS live, but before I dig in with the customizing, any reassurance/advice will be gratefully accepted! New install is not neccecary. Regards HI, thanks for your advice. No, all brand spanking new install, filezilla, domain... Why would I need to re-install? So I do need to change something? Actually, I've just checked and now I CAN'T connect to the site, though I haven't touched anything: Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required '/homepages/27/d47XXXXXXXX/htdocs/config/config.inc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php6') in /homepages/27/d475xxxxxx6/htdocs/index.php on line 27 or the back office: Error 403 - Forbidden L'accès au fichier requiert une autorisation. Alex Simonchik BelVG
Lets try 777 permission during installation process. Do you have already installed prestashop version that you would like migrate to another server or do you want to make fresh install?
LBPC
ok, will change permission to 777. Like this? no, i only have one installed version on one server. It was installed yesterday, customised a little in back office (logo, etc.) It was working until an hour ago. Do you think I need to install again? Alex Simonchik BelVG
If you want to transfer website you doesn't need to make new install, just transfer files, change url in ps_show_urls table.
LBPC
I don't want to transfer the website. I have one domain and one website. I don't want to re-install unless I have to to make it work. I just want to access the site again
