Mr.Bean_S
If you search for "Attributes and Values" in the help files I am sure you will find everything you ask for. A little sample from the help file: "Attributes are the basis of product combinations: you can only create variations of a product if its attributes change. Attributes are configured on a per-product basis, from the "Products" page under the "Catalog" menu, but they must first be registered on your shop using the tool on the "Attributes and Values" page under the "Catalog" menu. To add a type of attribute, or in other words, to add a group of variation possibilities (colors, capacity, material, etc.), click on "Add new Attributes". A new page appears." In other words, as soon as you have created the attribute "Colours" you can add values (such as black, white, blue etc) and can then choose these under your product on the "Combination" form. vekia
but he want possibility to change atrributes in the cart, by default it isn't possible. Unfortunately, it isn't as simple as it seems, this modification require a lot of changes in the core & tpl files...
Mr.Bean_S
but he want possibility to change atrributes in the cart... Does he really? From what I read in his post he want these options ABOVE the button "Add to Cart" and it's normal to choose colour before you add to cart, don't you agree? Well, I'm swedish so maybe my english isn't good enough to understand what he really wants? In my opinion his reply to your question was not really "Yes" but more like "Kind of", Otherwise I don't see the purpose of adding "Well" before the word "Yes"? Am I wrong? vekia
my question: you're talking about cart? or what? answer: well yes here is a little misunderstanding i think
scenteddelights
well ok lets see, what i want is options for items they put in the cart, my [spam-filter] sells candles... so what i'm wanting is the choice for the customer to pick color and fragrance, so if i sell lets say an 8oz candle the customer can choose color and smell from the drop down box. the initial cart purchase is for the 8 oz candle but i'm sent the info on color and scent....does that help? Mr.Bean_S
well ok lets see, what i want is options for items they put in the cart, my [spam-filter] sells candles... so what i'm wanting is the choice for the customer to pick color and fragrance, so if i sell lets say an 8oz candle the customer can choose color and smell from the drop down box. the initial cart purchase is for the 8 oz candle but i'm sent the info on color and scent....does that help? I must agree that the way you write somewhat adds to the confusion but I'm guessing you want the customers to be able to choose color AND scent BEFORE they press the button "Add to cart"? Why have it any other way? If you add the attribute "Color" under the menu "Catalogue" you can choose between having sample colors shown as small squares (from HTML colors or pictures you provide yourself) or from a drop down box (where they just see the alternatives as text) and the last option is to get buttons with each colors name on. In my example I choosed color samples (Färg= Color in Swedish). In an english version I assume "Rullist" above would say "Drop down" instead (on the drop down on the picture). Once you have added the attribute "Color" you can start adding "Values" (colors). On this picture you can see that I have created lots of color choices (well, you would if you know swedish). Once this is done you can use these attributes for ANY of your products. Next you go to your product and add the colors you want for this specific produkt (NOT ALL the colors you added as values!) If you scroll right you can see that you can (if you wish!) add a difference in price due to their choice of color but beware that if you also add the attribute scent and want a price difference there as well I think you are screwed since I have a feeling it will only affect the price correct if there's no more than one difference for a product. This might be solved in the future perhaps? When you add your attributes for a product you can also decide what pictures to show when they click that color (or chose from drop down). In the picture above I choose the first picture since it's black (svart). Then finally (if you wish!) you can set how many you have in stock for each color under the quantity tab. This can be shown to customer as well. I hope this will get you started.
Mr.Bean_S
my question: answer: here is a little misunderstanding i think I agree! The word "Well" got me thinking he actually was'nt so sure and perhaps meant "sort of" when he continued to describe what he wanted. Not really needed if the answer REALLY was "yes".
