vekia
you've got this even if you import, for example, file with one product? maybe it is related to the filesize? i mean, that you've got some script execution time limit?

I've seen some posts here and some says its to change the time exec. in php.ini? is it fix it? vekia
in my opinion it is related to the memory. try to contact with your hoster, if you're on shared hosting - you probably haven't got rights to change php.ini files
