vekia
everything depends on your hosting configuration, try to ask your hoster for correct chmod value
Jim McGill
everything depends on your hosting configuration, try to ask your hoster for correct chmod value Hi vekia, I am installing Prestashop for the first time and I did not have prior experience in open source application. So you can consider me a novice in IT stuff. I had the recursive write permission issues but after my hoster set the Permission to 777, the installation was smooth. However, as recommended by the official Presta guide, I asked the hoster to set permissions back to 664 or 666. But he said it didn't work for the server, so he changed to 755 instead. NOTE: The hoster has NEVER done any Prestashop installation before. So he is as inexperienced as me! But when I login to the back office, under the Configuration checklist, it says there is URL rewriting issues and so forth. And there is also a list as below: Updated files (474)adminxxxx/uploadProductFileAttribute.php adminxxxx/ajaxfilemanager/ajax_get_file_listing.php adminxxxx/autoupgrade/index.php adminxxxx/themes/default/template/controllers/index.php adminxxxx/themes/default/template/controllers/access/index.php (.... and the list goes on, 474 affected files to be precise) --------------- Lastly, when I click on the four icons at the top of screen, it shows: Error code: 500 This error code also appears quite frequently when I access some other modules too. May I know if these are all related to the write permission issue? Many thanks and hope you can come to my rescue! vekia
May I know if these are all related to the write permission issue? definitely. more information you can get from error log (it's usually simple .txt file located in the root dir of your FTP service (or subdirs like /log/ /tmp/)) URL rewriting Browser cache & compression Smarty optimization Combine, Compress & Cache these informations depend on your host specification.
