preserver
I downloaded a back up of my database, and I tried to check it out. I used the evaluation version of the special zip software. I'm not sure what the files are supposed to look like.... Is there a certain way I should open or view the backup to see if it is right? Should I extract it then look at it? When I just chose to view it, it was difficult to understand what the information meant... Thanks in advance!
tomerg3
I suggest trying to import it using phpMyAdmin (to a new DB). It would probably be best to set up Wamp (google it) on your local computer, and do it on phpMyAdmin there
preserver
I got onto the phpMyAdmin page from my control panel. I tried importing the backup file I had downloaded onto my computer. The compression format (application/bzip2)wasn't accepted though. It said I needed to change my configuration in order to upload the file from my computer. Also I could select a file from the web server upload directory /home/presesa0/tmp/. Should I take the backup out of the admin/ backup folder? They are in the same compression format, so I can't see how that would help... I did try to get wamp, but apparently my computer isn't compatible. I think I didn't have the right programs (C++) something like that. I'm not sure though how to start a new database either. Thoughts?
vekia
try to export database to simple .sql file, it is much easier to import (sometimes if you've got bzip format you have to configure apache / php to use this fileformat)
