Dahl99
Hi, I'm thinking of moving my site from a .com url to co.uk url and keeping the same database. Is it as simple as moving the files from the original folder to the new folder and then changing the url in Prefernces/SEO & Urls Thanks Edited June 14, 2013 by Dahl99 (see edit history)

vekia
that's right sometimes is also necessary to REMOVE the .htaccess file, i don't know why, but this did the trick a lot of times before 1) move all files 2) move database 3) change SEO & URLs (domain, uri) 4) regenerate robots 5) if problem occur - remove .htaccess file (don't forget about backup!) Dahl99
Hi Vekia, when you say move the database what do you mean by that as I'll be using the same database.
vekia
ahh yes you've got right, you want to use the sama database. So in this case, skip this step;) so you want to change DOMAIN only? (not hosting/db ?)
Dahl99
Yes just change the domain and stay with the same host. So it will be mysite.co.uk instead of mysite.com
vekia
in this case the best thing is: 1) create new directory and paste there all files 2) point new domain to this directory 3) in old page make 301 redirection (for SEO purposes)
