Jaouad_nesata
Hello everyone, I wanted to know if someone could recommend me the best way to buy Barcodes for the products I'm creating? It's mandatory if you want to sell on Amazon. I would need maybe 500 EAN barcodes maximum. There seems to be many websites claiming they will sell you barcodes, but I don't know if I can trust them. I don't necessarily want to subscribe to the official organisation as it looks quite expensive (you need to pay an annual fee on top of the barcodes you will buy). Have anyone here bought EAN barcodes and could advice please? Many thanks, Jaouad
benjamin utterback
Hello, I thought Amazon also accepted UPC barcodes. Are they the same thing?
Jaouad_nesata
Yes, I think UPC codes are more for the US, but yes indeed, UPC are ok too (but mainly in the US I think)

Jaouad_nesata
Thanks Benjamin, I found them too but there's the ones where you need to subscribe with an annual fee to be 'a member'. I don't know if it's the best thing to go for when we try to build our products and save money as this would cost quite a lot even before we start selling. I mean I'm not sure subscribing to this club is very great :s Hence I wonder if someone bought some barcodes already and can advice. Thanks again Benjamin!! benjamin utterback
I know people who deal with UPC codes on Amazon. They to are subscribed to a yearly service. Are you planning on only having those 500 products with the same EAN code? In that case it may be a higher upfront cost to purchase them all at the same time. Using a subscribed service, it seems that it will save you money in the short term.
Jaouad_nesata
Hi Benjamin, Sorry I was not precise enough. I would have around 500 references maximum. And each of them would need a single barcode.

tuk66
Here is some explanation - http://www.buyabarcode.co.uk/amazon/Buyabarcode.co.uk specializes in barcode that are Amazon ready, EAN for the UK/European market and the UPC for the rest of the world. We cater for both. Amazon requires a unique barcode to identify each item you are distributing, our barcode numbers are ideal for this.
delete
Hello, Here is an example website that you can buy ean codes for. http://www.getabarcode.co.uk/500-barcodes.html This is not a good idea to purchase barcode on website which provide that kind of services/products because almost all of them are not compliant or registered to GS1 database. Buy purchase barcode from unknown companies, you will exposed to have duplicates, wrong, fake barcodes. The best way to obtain barcodes is to subscribe a membership to GS1. The price of the subscribtion starts at €80 for 1 year and 100 codes. You can obtain more codes on demand. Registering online on GS1 takes 10 minutes and you will obtain your barcode with 1 working day. GS1 is the only one professionnal solution to handle and manage your barcodes and bring your products on the market. GS1 will provide you reliables barcode which will be accepted by the entire industry. I'm not working for GS1, i'm writing that because this is based on my knowledge, i'm working and dealing everydays with the marketplaces.

common-services
Hi, All the URL mentionned in this topic are selling EAN/UPC illegally, don't purchase EAN/UPC online ! All sites selling EAN/UPC online are scams. Only the EAN/UPC issued by GS1 are legal, regular and can be used to sell on marketplaces ; http://www.gs1.org/contact Best Regards
