Microame
Hi Everyone, Recently added a new feature to one of my product by adding a custom message engraved into the product. This can be achieved by the product customisation feature, but there is no provision to add a price for the customisation. Does any one got any idea how I can add a price for product customisation? Kind Regards
shacker
maybe you can ask to this developer to add price in this module http://addons.prestashop.com/es/aplicaciones-front-office-prestashop-modulos/6638-advanced-customizations.html
tomerg3
Check out http://www.prestasho...eaxtarea-files/ It lets you display regular attributes as textbox, textarea or file upload, and just like any attribute, you can have a price (or weight) impact on them. It also does not require the confusing "Save" button.
ScarletImpressions
I never launched the product in the end but all I did was set up combinations (blank and personalised) with the price increase in it personalised option, then added the customisation box. Of course you do get the odd person that doesn't read and selects blank then puts a name in the personalisation.
tomerg3
I would imagine many customers would try to get away with adding the personalization, without paying for it
Microame
Thanks for your feedbacks, but without much trouble we should be able to add a price if the customer wants a product personalisation. If you got any more simple ideas please share with me.
tomerg3
I'm not quite sure what you are basing the following statement on "without much trouble we should be able to add a price if the customer wants a product personalisation". The only "Simple" solution is what Scarlet mentioned...
Microame
Thanks fo the reply. What Scarlet mentioned is correct, but as she has suggested it is not a 100% efficient. Someone can select the blank and add a message in the text box. So am trying to avoid that loop hole.
tomerg3
Well, anything else would not really be a "simple" solution, it will require customization. You can add some custom Javascript to check if anything it typed in the customization, and if it is, force the attribute to be selected. This will be about 99% "efficient" as the average customer would not know how to bypass a Javascript call. You could go with 100% option, but that would require adding a check on the PHP side, to not allow a product to be added to cart if a customization is entered but the appropriate attribute is not selected. Both the above options are doable, but require knowledge of Prestashop, and time to implement. The module solution I suggested would likely take less time to implement, and does not require the "save" button.
Microame
Thanks for your feedback. I am looking for some solutions apart from involving a programer.
tomerg3
I don't think you will find anything except what Scarlet mentioned.
ScarletImpressions
On the "simple" lines. Just make 2 products, one with the personalisation option and one with the blank option, would stop the possibility of people adding in the customisation field without paying for it. Also gives you the opportunity to optimise more with two pages being indexed by google. Or failing that take the "business" approach of just sell the product at the price with the personalisation and say personalisation at no extra cost. More money if they want them blank and a customer that thinks they are getting a deal if they want their name on it. Of course that depends on the product. Microame
Thanks Scarlet. Looks like I have to increase the price and say the personalisation is for free.
tomerg3
Make sure to change the product description a bit, as search engine will penalize you (or simply not index the two) for duplicate content.
ScarletImpressions
That was my intention Presto, one optimised for the product itself and the other optimised for personalisation since that is a popular selling point currently. But one product one price certainly works better, if people don't want the customisation it's a little extra profit in your pocket. It's the option I would choose. tomerg3
Seems like we're on the same page. The free solution is free, but not very user friendly, having two products is not something any professional store would want to have. The other options (customization or module) will require some investment (time or money), but are by far the better options...
