v. 1541 - friendly url - what changes to htaccess?

Hi all,

 

I have a 1541, and would like to activate friendly url from Preferences / SEO & URL's. But it's written that "URL rewriting (mod_rewrite) is not active on your server, or it is not possible to check your server configuration. If you want to use Friendly URLs, you must activate this mod.".

 

What exactly should I do, in order to have functional friendly url's?

Hi,

 

the simplest way is ask it on your host provider. If you are want enable mod_rewrite on your server by himself, you need to know what is the server do you use. Google has many answer how to enable mod_rewrite

When your server is running php cgi module or fast-cgi, so this warning is standard, but you are able to activate friendly-URL without any problems. Did you tried to activate ?

cgi hide mod_rewrite and therefore you will have this error-message, but without any effect.

Now, the url shows "http://mowgli.ro/ro/mobilier/8-patut-din-lemn-cu-sertar.html". Is there a problem that the category shows, or the html suffix shows, for google? Or this doesn't affect google ranking?
