Payment Gateways

Hi all,

 

I was wondering if there was a decent guide to payment gateways anywhere? I have searched and read various topics but it seems there is a lack of any real information about the whole process.

 

Either that or I am just missing it!

 

I am setting up a couple of shops.

 

Do I need a special bank account to accept online payments?

 

I thought the process would be to sign up with authorize.net (only chosen these guys as they seem to have the clearest website) and then configure the module for my new account and that would be it?

 

I would really like to have a better understanding of it all though.

 

If anyone could help that would be great I was suprised there wasn't a stick on the subject or something!

you can find some of payments modules there. For configure any payment module you need get credential from payment gateway

I'm aware of the different modules available.

 

I'm just not sure of the full process.

 

I have a bank account. Do I sign up with someone like Authorize.net and supply those account details to them?

 

And then I configure their module on my website to work with my Authorize account?
