TECHNICAL ERROR: unable to save adresses ( found the reason behind it but cannot solve )

Recommended Posts

Hi . I have found a bug in prestashop 1.5.3.1

In the checkout process ( 5 step) when a customer or guest changes his address in address stage from drop down list (step 3) ( of course if he have more than two addresses ) if he immediately submit the next button ( for going to next stage ) , he would see an error poped up says :

Details:

TECHNICAL ERROR: unable to save adresses

Details: Error thrown [Object object]

text status: error

This happend because the 1B information that have to be posted from drop down list, has not been posted ( I uploaded an image and you can see that 1 B POST from j Query ). This happens in slow servers.

After that the user will be brought to the next level (stage 4), while his address has not yet been changed, but if he returns to address stage ( stage 3) and then click again this time he will see the current address in the stage 4.

However, If at the selecting another address (step 3) the user wait some seconds before clicking next,to let the 1 B information post via POST function ), then it will be no error !

I know the solution : one of the solution is to prevent the user from clicking the next button until the 1B information is posted, but I do not know how to do that! :(

Can anyone help me?

after reviewing your other posts in the forum and similar posts marked 'solved' , the most likely cause is the use of a 'free' module that is conflicting with native prestashop.

I would (if it was me) uninstall each of these modules that are present in and around registration and then test your current error path.

If this does not resolve the issue and you are a new shop, I would start over with a fresh installation, making sure that the described error is not present, and then move forward. Avoid unproven modules and making any changes to your native PrestaShop installation.

Thanks how can I know if a module is proven or not?

I'm afraid that the only way you would know if a module works without conflict is by review of the forum post and loading to your shop and then checking that all the native ps featrues still work....IMHO in a majority of cases...one would not offer a free module if they actually did the testing required to offer a compatible module....it's a ton of work....

Unlike all other types of CMS's PrestaShop does not have a central place where free modules by 3rd party vendors can be listed and then rated by the community. I myself have great reservations about supplying free modules either here or on our product site because I find that keeping them current and/or getting feedback from those that use free modules is not a priority.

If you are building a serious online shop....you are better served staying with the native prestashop, building your product base...not modifying 'anything' in native prestashop nor adding modules....as these are all distractions of building your online catalog. When we look at a majority of paid solutions, and given you are expecting to make a profit from your online catalog, it really makes sense to buy quality themes/products that have a reputation of being current and compatible with your release of PS.

if any ps user understood the amount of testing a simple quality module takes to ensure one click install and compatibility with stated native ps releases...they would then understand how low good modules really sell for.

so my advice...stay with your native default shop themes and modules.....build your site....then back it up!...before loading anything from 3rd party vendors and/or offical ps addon's...but whenever possible...do not change it...this will allow you to for example upgrade to new cool versions without creating a huge mess that can take up loads of time....or in the worse case cause you to fail.

best of luck to you and happy prestashopping...
