Huge loading time with 1.5.4.1

Okay so I'm working on three different diamond engagement ring stores using Prestashop. Two of them running with v.1.5.2 and a more recent one with the latest version (1.5.4.1). The problem is that I encounter huge loading time on the new one when attempting to view one of the items listed on that last site.

 

Each ring of these sites are customizable, and hold each about 2000 different combinations. Now, I know that Prestashop does not handle so well that much combinations, but the speed I get for the two sites running on 1.5.2 work fine with me for now (it takes about 4-5 seconds before loading an item's detail page.). By comparison, the new store running on the latest version can take more than one minute to load an item's detail page.

 

There is obviously something wrong with this amount of loading time, since all 3 stores were built on a similar modal with a similar inventory/number of combinations.

 

Could it be a malfunction with this newer version of Prestashop? Did anyone encounter similar problem?

 

Also, I cannot use any add-on available that improve the management of combinations, the reason being that each one of our 2000 combinations affect the price of the item in a very unique way, and since today I did not find any add-on that could fit that particular situation.
