I tested the PrestaShop with the guest and without guests, but the tax was calculated as GST 5 % for default home country (Canada) all the time, unless the customer logged in or provided the shipping destination (Province) on the guest panel.

I believe that Customers should not see the WRONG tax (GST 5%) until the system knows the customer's destination and be able to show the correct tax (HST 13% for Ontario for example).

Does anybody know what should I do to fix this?

Thanks,

Mojtaba

Hi Bill,

Actually I did not change the default settings when installing prestashop.

I have prestashop 1.5.4.1 on a remote server.

The only thing I want, is just to show the price with taxes after entering the address by the customer.

Here is a default install,

http://bdalton.ca

Notice when you add an item to the cart it is not adding tax. You said in your first post that your cart is adding 5% GST. That usually doesn't happen on the default install. But I have found this to be helpful,

http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS15/Understanding+Local+Settings#UnderstandingLocalSettings-Taxes

If you haven't had a chance to look this over, I recommend it. Then take a look at your current settings and see how you get along.

Hi,

In the product pages (back-end), there is a base price and final price.

My shop shows the final price (which shows 5% added to each product), but when in checkout process it add the remaining 8% e.g. for ON.

How can I modify it to do not show the tax at all until checking out?

PS. The tax (5%) has been added to the products while navigating the shop.

Thanks,

Mojtaba

I'm having the same issue with a cart we installed for a client who ships products from Canada only in Canada. The version is 1.4.10.0. At this point, I've got the Tax Rules setup properly (although the default "Tax to Apply" settings for Canada may not be properly set in all cases).

I've noticed 2 issues. The first is exactly as mentioned above about the tax being included & displayed prior to the destination being entered. I read the documentation and it shows that there should be a setting, under Tax Options, called "Display tax in cart". This setting is not there in the admin of 1.4.10.0! I've looked everywhere I can think of and am unable to find it!

The second issue is that, according to our client, taxes should also be applied to the shipping. The client is using Canada Post as his only carrier (Regular & Expedited using the Canada Post Rates Calculator v1.1 Module). When I go into the carrier (Shipping\Carriers), I made sure to enable "Apply shipping cost", set tax to "CA Standard Rate", and enable "Shipping & handling". Still, when I get to checkout and have signed in with the proper address in Quebec, the tax is properly applied to the product price, but NOT to the shipping! I've tested it with "Shipping & handling" disabled and still have the same issue.

If anyone can point me in the right direction on either of these 2 issues, I'd be eternally grateful. We've been having issues with the Canadian taxes on this site for close to 6 months and, as you'd expect, the client is less than thrilled!

Thanks, in advance for ANY help...

Clem

Taxes are very different between 1.5 and 1.4

In PS 1.4.X go to,

Back Office > Payment > Tax Rules

Click edit CA Standard Rate

Set Canada to No Tax

If any other Zones are present based on Canada you must change those to No Tax as well or GST will continue to be the default.

In Back Office > Payment > Taxes

Create Taxes. You will need a GST and several HST, for Quebec I use a combined tax called QUE at 14.5%. You then need to apply each tax individually to the provinces in Back Office > Payment > Tax Rules.

To include shipping in tax,

Back Office > Shipping Carriers - Set Tax to CA Standard Rate

You mention that you have this setting in your Carrier. You will need to make sure tax zones and shipping zones are matched.
